Prescription Drug Restrictions Flying To Dubai?
By Meds
Ask Your Question: Hi – my partner is really bad with flying and has been preescribed some Valium to easer her nerves. The thing is, is she allowed to fly with it on her to Dubai? She’s taking a very small quantity, about 10 pills I think, but she’d really only need to take 4 (2 for the outward journey, 2 for the inbound journey).
There’s no problems with other countries, but I’ve just been told that apparently, there are problems taking other prescription drugs like Codine over there. I’m flying with Emirates by the way.
Thanks.

I think Valium are in the same bracket as diazapam??? If that’s correct you definitely cant take them into Dubai. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
There’s a herbal sleeping tablet you can buy at Boots the chemist called ‘ Sominex’. They really are powerful so you could try them out prior to your flight and see if they work for her. That way she could sleep most of the flight and your in no danger of getting into trouble. Hope this helps and enjoy your trip to Dubai you jammy devils!

The above answerer is right. Valium/Diazepam is a controlled drug in the Emirates and can get obtained only in Goverment hospitals. To have this substance in your body or carrying this drug can have fatal consequences when found.
To bring in a controlled drug your gf must show a medical report from a doctor detailing her illness and the reason for taking the medicines.
Below please find a link with all drugs which are controlled in the UAE. Your gf should show this list to her doc and get an alternative medications which does not contain any banned substances.http://archive.gulfnews.com/images/06/11…
